About the Hub

Welcome to the MBC Action Australia Information and Support Hub.

A free, dedicated space for anyone affected by metastatic breast cancer — built by and for the MBC community.

Whether you're newly diagnosed or have been living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) for a while, we created this space so you feel seen, heard, and supported.

The Hub has been built by people living with MBC, for people living with MBC — and for the family and friends who walk alongside us, because lived experience is at the heart of MBC Action Australia.

Co-designed with the MBC community, the Hub is practical, relevant, and grounded in real life.

Voices from our community

The Hub exists because of people who have lived it. These are some of the voices that shaped it.

  • When I was diagnosed stage 4 de novo 12 years ago, I felt so alone and lost. I was originally promised the world when they thought my cancer was early stage and when I needed help the most there was none. No one should ever experience that, and I believe every bit of information, links to services and sometimes just a glimmer of hope can make the early days so much easier.

  • Knowledge is power. I want to make sure that anyone else going through this in the future will be better supported than I have been to date.

    – Judith
  • My best friend was diagnosed with de novo breast cancer 10 years ago and I have been one of her key supporters from initial diagnosis and throughout her journey. I was also an oncology and palliative care nurse in the past and have a bit of a unique insight. I have found the information available online to be disconnected and whilst someone like me was able to find things out, most would not know where to start.

    – Suzi
  • I can remember just after Mum was diagnosed, I spent hours deep into the night trawling the internet for information on anything from what this diagnosis meant, to what foods I could make for her while she underwent chemo. My own hope is that the Hub is a place where people can come and find the right information, at the right time, when they need it most.

When Mum was diagnosed, she was terrified, and yet she still showed a strength beyond what I can describe. By working on this Hub, I have witnessed once more what can be achieved through the collective strength and sheer force of those living with MBC, their families and those who have dedicated their professional lives to it - creating a place for those who may walk this path next.

  • As a Mcgrath Nurse who supports people living with advanced breast cancer, it is wonderful to have this information and support hub that I can direct my clients to. The hub contains credible and evidence-based resources, so I can be confident that the information that my clients are accessing is accurate and up to date.

  • It is great to have a site dedicated entirely to people living with metastatic breast cancer, so that all the information, resources and support options that they may need, are available in one place, no matter where they are in their disease trajectory.

  • People living with advanced breast cancer often have complex needs, ranging from the physical effects of their disease to the long-term practical, social, and psychological implications. The Hub does a tremendous job at addressing all of these, whether it be demystifying some of the medical jargon that is used, ensuring people know where to go to access a breast care nurse or support group to feel connected and heard, advice on planning for future care, information on where to go if there are financial or practical concerns at home and advice on how to live as well as possible with this disease. It really covers all aspects of living with advanced breast cancer and is a comprehensive and evidence-based resource that as nurses, we can confidently direct our clients to.

Thank you

We also thank The Social Deck for their generosity, support and expertise. Their team brought this Hub to life with care and skill, and helped create something we're all incredibly proud of.

Finally, we are deeply grateful to the 50+ people living with MBC, their families and friends, and the healthcare professionals who contributed their time and knowledge through co-design and testing. Without you, the Hub would not have happened.

This is just the start. The Hub will continue to evolve and grow — so let us know if there's something you'd like to see added.
